Rules & Policies
Parkour Class Rules
1. Have fun, but make safe choices.
2. Do not move any equipment unless asked by an instructor.
3. Do not enter the movement floor until you are invited by the instructor.
4. Stay hydrated! All students will be asked to leave the floor during water breaks. Please bring your own water bottle, and store it in a cubby.
5. Practice 3-fold awareness and respect; be aware of yourself, others, and your environment (including the equipment). Be respectful of these as well.
6. No physical contact. This includes helping people up or over obstacles. When playing games, remember safety comes first.
7. Observe the “Blue Rule”: You may only go on our tallest dark blue obstacles if you’ve passed an instructor assessment.
8. Mats are for landing on, not for resting. Do not run across mats. After completing a skill, move off the mat as soon as it is safe to do so.
9. Unless instructed otherwise, only one person may be on a mat or obstacle at a time.
10. All personal belongings should be stored in the cubbies or within one foot of the base of the cubbies. The Movement Park is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Lost and found is cleared every 30 days.
11. Profanity will not be tolerated.
12. Wear athletic clothing. No belts or buckles, please. No boots, slip-on, or heels (of any kind) on the movement floor.
13. Always wipe your shoes on the rug provided before entering the movement space.
14. No chewing gum, food, or drink outside the viewing area.
15. Any behavior that is unsafe, destructive, or hinders the training of other students will be met with a warning. Individuals who continue this behavior after being given a warning may be asked by a staff member to leave the gym floor and sit in the viewing area.
19. Do not jump across a gap at the same time someone else is jumping.
20. Do not sit or lie down on the equipment.
Open Train Rules
In addition to our Class Rules, please observe the following:
1. To attend Open Train you must be at least 7 years old and taking parkour classes, or be 10 years old or above.
2. Open Train is a time for training parkour skills and jamming with other movers. This is not a park, playground, or daycare.
3. While parkour skill challenges are encouraged, “Tag” and other games are not allowed. Those looking to play games should attend the Parkour Games class, or look for Open Play sessions.
4. The on-duty instructor is there to supervise and move equipment, not to teach.
5. Do not use the truss or bars unless you know how to re-grip and can perform a break—fall. Breakfalls are taught in our classes and during private lessons.
6. If you are jumping from a height from which you have never jumped, or are doing a lache or underbar in a new location, use an appropriate mat for landing.
When in doubt, always use a mat. Instructors can advise which mats are appropriate for the skill you are attempting.
